Green Silence For SPEED....

Eco-built For Speed

The Green Silence is more than just a red and yellow shoe wrapped in green. In our quest to make our products more people- and earth-friendly, we never sacrifice premium performance. The Green Silence is first and foremost a blazin’ fast performance racing flat. We just happened to concoct a way to make it as gracious on the environment as it will be for you in long-distance competitikon.e
  • Midsole: Yep, the Green Silence gets our biodegradable, high-resiliency BioMoGo midsole foam you’ll find in other Brooks shoes. But instead of making the midsole paper thin like you’ll find in most racing flats, the Green Silence gives you a thicker midsole that offers a wider base net for more inherent support. That means it’ll handle your stride as well at mile 2 as mile 26.2.
  • Outsole: Look no further than the bottom of the Green Silence for Brooks’ eco-friendlier high-abrasion rubber (HPR Green) in high wear spots. And like the midsole, the Green Silence gives you full thickness of this outsole material for long-run durability. But don’t worry; we minimize its placement to keep weight down.
  • Upper: Fit is it. And if a racing flat doesn’t fit like a glove, we’ve lost the race before the gun fires. The Green Silence—with its conformable upper materials and asymmetrical vamp and lacing system—hugs your foot like a sock. The wrap-over tongue won’t slide around. Fewer seams means less potential for rubbing, and multiple eyelet options for top tongue lacing customize fit and ensure a snug midfoot wrap.

All Green Silence materials meet Brooks’ rigid quality control standards for high-mileage training shoes. But of course these are just our words. Here’s what some competitive runners said about their Green Silence wear-testing experiences:
"Good cushioning throughout the shoe."
"I like the overall spring of the shoe. The shoe really does feel like it wants to be run in."
"After 100 miles, still holding up nicely. The heel is a nice compromise between stiff and soft. I hate shoes that are too squishy but also dislike shoes that jar with each heel strike. Even with what feels like a thinner sole, I felt like my foot was well protected. "
"The small amount and strategic location of the seams is awesome. I don’t feel any chaffing or blisters from these, and that is key since many flats leave you with blisters."
"Very comfortable fit. The asymmetrical lacing helps provide a very snug and secure 'wrapped' midfoot. "
"I didn’t notice wearing them…they felt good!"
"The shoe didn't help or hinder with transition—it allowed your foot to do its thing."
"Very natural/smooth transition from heel-strike to propulsion. . .the underfoot feel of the shoe feels balanced and very consistent throughout the entire gait cycle. The midsole feels flexible and responsive—I feel it encourages a more efficient foot-strike and toe off."
"Unlike racing flats I’ve previously worn, the Green Silence manages to hold its own (and me!) for distances of a half marathon and beyond."
"Overall, I would rate the Green Silence as an excellent flat and highly recommend it for racing and speed work."
